By Chetan Kapoor,

The travel, tourism and hospitality industry is crumbling before our eyes with more than half a million lay-offs in less than a month.

Amid the global spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, companies of all shapes and sizes — from the billion-dollar valued to startups — are trimming costs, disbanding, and letting go off their most precious asset — the workforce. And this, of course, is not limited to the travel industry alone.

500,000+ Job Risks in the Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Announced Over Last 3 Weeks

Given the dire circumstances, we identified a need of a central hub to monitor the impact of the pandemic on the industry workforce.

This gave birth to the Global Travel Staffing Barometer, a free-to-use tracker on the state of terminations, furloughs and pay-cuts, across industry categories and countries, collated from various news sources, and updated on daily basis.

The Global Travel Staffing Barometer quantifies the discharged staff, and in time will offer the first glimpses for the road to recovery for the travel industry.

Features of the Global Travel Staffing Barometer include:

  • KPIs that Matter: Frequent updates to furloughs, terminations and pay-cuts
  • Global to Local: We have catalogued 200 travel and hospitality companies. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Filter by country, category, status
  • Focus: Dedicated to the travel, tourism and hospitality industry
  • Convert Insights to Action: Monitor human resource movement, convert to your advantage!
